VMware Q1 Updates

So I’ve been privy to a presentation that outlines what’s being launched and announced by VMware next month and I’m pretty sure one of the announcements is going to annoy a few customers!!
That said, I can see from VMware’s point of view why they’re doing what they’re going to do!

Unfortunately as I’m bound by a NDA, I can’t say much more than that…. =(

However, I can say that there will be a number of minor updates to products we all love to use (vROps, VSAN, vRA)…. and it’s not exactly a BIG secret that VSAN 6.2 is due to be launched (This is so well documented in the public arena that I don’t see the point of not blogging about it).
Duncan Epping (http://www.yellow-bricks.com/) has been blogging about the VSAN beta, so it’s not hard to work out what new features will be in the announcement! =)

On another note, someone asked me today why I haven’t been blogging much…. well unfortunately I didn’t quite realise how much time would be taken up by my newborn baby (she’s 4 mths old now). I tend to blog when I have time…. and unfortunately when I’m at work all day, all I want to do when I get home is spend time with my baby girl…..! (BTW, she rolled over for the first time today! YAY!)

I’ve got a ton of stuff I want to write about, on here and also for SearchVMware.com, but finding time to sit down, brain-storm, draft and write is just too difficult when it’s far more easier, and fun, to play with my daughter!

So whilst I’m not posting much up here, I am still dropping the odd VMware article that I come across which I think may be of interest to my readers!

In the meantime, bear with me as I try to juggle work, nappies and blogging the next few months (or years!!).

I’ll leave you all with a picture I was meant to post up over Christmas (but never got round to writing a blog entry for):

Network Security Makeover with VMware NSX

Over the past several years, high-profile data breaches have continued to exploit a legacy approach to data center network security. While methods for data center attacks vary, security breaches generally have a common element: exploit the fact that within the data center, there are little to no security controls in place. Once attackers breach the data center, they are able to move laterally from server to server spreading their malware. Traditional approaches to securing data centers have focused on strong perimeter defenses to keep threats on the outside of the network. This model is ineffective for handling today’s new and evolving threats. Data center security strategies need a makeover and VMware NSX is the answer.
