MTI/IDG Whitepaper

My company – MTI Techology – recently undertook an engagement with IDG to produce a whitepaper highlighting how VMware NSX could be used to address Security, Automation and Innovation within the Financial market.

TBH, the whitepaper can apply to any market who are experiencing the same business challenges!

EDIT: Forgot to mention that you need to sign up for a free account in order to download the whitepaper. =)

Network Virtualisation – The Answer to Data Centre Security

I’m always being asked to write something high-level about NSX, and for a techie I’ve always struggled to keep technology out of these types of articles.

As MTI are sponsoring and exhibiting at ESRM tomorrow, I was asked at the last minute whether I would like to write an article for ESRM’s blog regarding what MTI will be talking about on their stand.

Anyways, with such late notice I hope I’ve done NSX and MTI justice….

Enterprise Security & Risk Management – 30th Nov 2016, Victoria London

So my company is sponsoring the Enterprise Security & Risk Management event at Victoria Park Plaza Hotel, London this coming Wednesday.

As such, I’ve been asked to attend with some of my security colleagues to help spread the NSX love… =)

Not many people are aware that MTI Technology has both a Data Centre and Security business unit, which means we are clearly positioned as a Solutions Provider that can sell you tin (storage/servers/networks), virtualise your workloads and also secure your critical data!

As one of VMware’s NSX Focused Partners in the UK, we are able to offer the full network virtualisation and security package! Whether it’s just using NSX to offer micro-segmentation and automation of network & security policies, or whether you require deeper packet inspection with the likes of Palo Alto or Trend Deep Security.

Anyways, if anyone’s in attendance at the ESRM event on Wednesday, then drop by the MTI stand to say hi and find out more about what we do, which vendors we work with and also why we all love NSX! =P

Oh, and we’re also giving away a Sonos Play 1 Wireless Speaker as a raffle prize! =)

The Journey to the Secure Software-Defined Data Center

So one of the key differentiators that my company, MTI Technology, has over some of the other VMware partners in the UK is that we have quite an established Security Practice (We even hold the Royal Warrant for security work for the Royal Household!)

I’ve been asked to present a short deck on MTI’s Secure Software-Defined Data Center solution at an upcoming event (non-technical, it’s aimed at C-level or decision makers). If you haven’t already signed up, then register below!

Organisations across the public and private sectors have been steadily consolidating their IT infrastructures, as they seek improved efficiency and better performance. While this activity will undoubtedly continue, many organisations are now setting their sights on the next big thing – securing their software-defined datacentre.

In a secure software-defined datacentre, an organisation’s entire infrastructure is virtualised. This empowers the integration of compute, storage, network, and security solutions, and enables you to deliver IT as a service, and provision services securely via the cloud. In turn, this allows IT departments to keep pace with growing business and technology demands, and to achieve the speed and agility that IT users require.

The journey to the secure software-defined datacentre

Join MTI at the Institute of Directors, London, on Friday 15th April as we explore how you can advance the way you deliver IT today to meet the needs of your business tomorrow, while combatting ever-evolving security threats. During the half-day workshop, you will learn how a secure software-defined datacentre can:

  • Help you to ensure strong alignment between your IT and business objectives
  • Deliver ‘built-in’ security that evolves as your IT infrastructure grows and adapts
  • Offer the balance of performance, capacity, and availability demanded by your critical business applications
  • Deliver simple and cost-effective test & development environments with management and delivery services to reduce application overheads
  • Drive improved efficiencies and cost saving for your business
  • Turn large volumes of commodity servers into a high-performance, low cost infrastructure
  • Protect your data, infrastructure, and environment, detect and, if necessary, remediate against intrusions

MTI VMworld Update Session Recordings

As I previous blogged, I was asked by my company to present a VMworld update webinar regarding SDDC and Hybrid Cloud.

The webinars have now all taken place and recordings are available for all the sessions that took place this week:

Enjoy…. =)

Tech Radar Pro Article and MTI VMware Partner Status

So the article I wrote a few months ago for MTI Times/MTI Bytes was shorten and submitted by our marketing team to Tech Radar Pro as part of an agreement to submit several articles regarding MTI’s insight of the IT Industry….. after what has seem like several months, my article has finally been published on their website! Yay…. ^_^
Funny thing is during the time between me submitting the article and TRP publishing it online VMware have rebranded vCenter Operations Manager as vRealize Operations… lol… =P
So the article is now a bit out-of-date…. =)

Anyways, you can find it here: http://www.techradar.com/news/software/business-software/what-next-for-virtualisation-in-midmarket-companies–1270546

Suffice to say that this is my only claim to fame within my IT career (so far)! =)

On another note, MTI have been invited to become a Premier Partner with VMware, which is a great honour as there are only a select few companies in the UK who have the highest Solution Provider partner status with VMware!
Interesting to see small-little MTI listed alongside the big-hitters like CC, SCC, Softcat, Kelway, Insight, etc….
To be honest, there are quite a number of bigger companies in the UK who are only Enterprise Partners, so it goes to show how much exposure within VMware we have gained in order to be bestowed with a Premier status!

I guess it’s just rewards for the amount of effort myself and my team have put into driving the VMware message to our customers and driving up our VMware business!

Although the downside to all this is that as Premier Partners we need to hold more VMware competencies, which means more training and certifications to do! >_<”
At last count MTI has achieved 6 out of 9 VMware competencies which is pretty good going!

Finally MTI’s VMworld update session will be held on Thursday 20th November 2014, our marketing team is just finalising the central London venue as I post this entry!
Hope to see you there!

VMworld 2013 Partner Day

First day of VMworld is dedicated to Partners and TAMs..

As a representative of MTI I’ve signed up for the Partner track in order to gain some insight on what VMware has planned for their partners.

Although that said, my first port of call will be to register at VMUG in order to pick up my VMUG t-shirt… Second port of call will be the EMC stand In order to sign up for their party tomorrow… Then it’ll be off to find the food hall! =)

So my schedule for the day looks like:

And to round it off there’s a partner reception this evening.

Good start to the week!

VMworld Barcelona

MTI Technology has arrived in VMworld Barcelona!! =)

So having left a soggy London and swapped it for a hot and sunny Barcelona, one of the first things I wanted to do was head to the convention centre in order to register and beat the massive queue that is bound to materialise tomorrow morning when non-partners and non-TAMs arrive!
Registration was quick and simple…. although I couldn’t help noticing all the signs on display regarding the €50 charge for re-printing any lost badges! *Mental note* Best keep mine safe!

Obviously with this being my first time at VMworld (my previous company was too stingy to send people to any sort of vendor events!), one of the first things you have to do is stand around like a tourist and take snaps of the venue to post online! =)
WP_20131013_001

With that quickly out of the way, my next call of business was to go grab my goodie bag! It’s nice when you take the time (and money) to go to one of these events and you’re greeted by a pretty decent bag of freebies!
WP_20131013_014
A pretty handy laptop bag with the usual load of flyers inside, plus a VMworld t-shirt, notepad and water bottle (obviously to keep us delegates hydrated as we salivate when finding out about all the new stuff being announced!)

I’m pretty excited at my first foray to VMworld, and in my excitement I’ve packed my schedule full of breakout sessions!
To be honest, it’s only just dawned on me that I don’t think I’ll make it to every one given how big the venue is and that I actually want to visit some of the vendor/sponsor booths…. as well as hunt down and meet some of the VMware community bloggers that I respect for their insight and blogs! (@vladan, @eSloof, @esiebert, @DuncanYB, @frankdenneman, @scott_lowe…… just to name the big guys….)

Seems that there are loads of people wandering around Barcelona carrying VMworld bags….. I wonder if any are staying in the same hotel as me?
Pretty cool hotel I’ve checked into….. Space themed…… spent ages trying to think up a smart and witty comment to tweet – the best I could come up with was “Checked into a Space themed hotel…. Defying Gravity before Defying Convention!”

Anyways, if anyone’s interested…. here’s my room location (cool eh?):

Anyways, best get a good nights sleep….. long 4 days ahead of me!
